Vrindavan Mathura, where Krsna (Krishna) lived!!!

The circular stone platform marks the site where Krsna played with the gopiranis (village girls) Other pics: temples and ghats (river embankments) at Vrindavan.

On the Delhi-Agra National Highway 2 , in the region near Mathura are thetowns of Vrindavan and all related places, where Sri Krsna, Hinduism's greatest diety, more well known accross the world as Krishna, lived most of his youth, dancing with the gopis (village girls) and playing with the local cowherds. Krsna was particularly fond of curds (fresh milk yogurt) and would do any mischief to get some !!! But behind this very innocent 'disguise' and playfulness, was a divine avatar (reincarnation) of God, who came into the world to vanquish evil. Like similar legends in other parts of the world, the evil king then, was told of Krishna's imminent birth and who the parents were . He imprisoned them and killed their 6 children, but when Krisna was born, the guards fell asleep, the prison doors swung open, and the mother and child escaped!! In the great war described in India's great epic story, the Mahabharata, Lord Krishna served as charioteer to one of the five Pandava brothers, Arjuna. The Pandavas were about to go into a great battle against the Kauravas, to correct the injustices done by the latter. Before the battle begins Lord Krishna sermons to Arjuna, what comes to his divine mind, this is later(?) compiled as the Bhagavad Gita, one of Hinduism's greatest moral and ethical treatise that commonly takes several readings to absorb the philosophy and meanings in the language of the verses. Most important, Krsna tells Arjuna, no matter what the circumstances, no matter what his feelings, when it comes to doing any actions that defeat the intents of evil, one must not shirk from this duty!!!

Vrindavan is the most sacred place in Hinduism to those Hindus who believe Lord Krsna as their greatest diety, the place vibrates with what happened here 5000 years ago; the ISKON there can advise you how to go around the region- ancient India at one of its oldest.
